A skill such as pottery allows you to express your creativity and produce something that you can use or display, but it can also be therapeutic by relieving stress and improving dexterity and fine motor skills. So many benefits in such a fun hobby! In our beginning pottery class you will learn how to prepare clay, how to work the clay by hand and with a pottery wheel, and various glazing techniques. You will create several unique pieces to take home. All pottery will be fired at the Community Center and may be picked up one week after the last class. Each class session includes time for set-up and clean-up and may extend to an extra session depending on the condition of the pottery as it is dried and fired. Ages 13+. Don't give up your comfortable chair just because it is a little worn. Give it a new exterior and bring it back to life! Bring your chair (no recliners, sofas or love seats) to the first class with fabric intact, if possible. We'll determine the amount of material needed for your project and discuss fabric selection. You will learn basic frame repair, spring tying, pattern layout, cushion styles and furniture styles. In most cases, you will be able to reupholster your chair in the 10 weeks of class. No experience is necessary. Ages 18+. Instructor Celeste Rosales has been reupholstering furniture for over 11 years and works in a local upholstery shop. Registration deadline: July 1. Min. 8.
