Riverfront Events and Programs


There is no need to pick a username and password for most Riverfront events. Registrations for PROGRAMS do require a username and password. For ticketed events, just bring your receipt to the event and that will serve as your ticket.

  

Yoga on the Riverfront

Bring your yoga mat to the pavilion in Promenade Park for FREE yoga on the Riverfront. This relaxing, 1-hour flow is for all skill levels and led by instructor Chelsea Vona, owner of Discover Yoga. Yoga mats will be provided if you do not have one. Class will be held on the Wells Street Bridge in June and on the Old National Bank Plaza in July and August. In the case of inclement weather, classes will be moved inside to the Park Foundation Pavilion.

Sunday Heritage Concert Series

Kickboxing with 9Round

Kick and punch your way through a great workout with 9Round! At this FREE monthly exercise class, instructors will lead you through a full body, calorie burning journey like no other. Drop in and join the fun! In the case of inclement weather, classes will be moved inside the Park Foundation Pavilion.

Dance Promenade: West Coast Swing

Back by popular demand! Join us at the Park Foundation Pavilion to learn and practice West Coast Swing with Dance CoLAB. This is a beginner progressive class that builds on each lesson so you do not want to miss any of the sessions! But the fun doesn’t stop with the classes - on May 8 there will be an open West Coast Swing dance party with modern and classic music to dance the night away. All ages are welcome. Ticket purchase deadlines: Tuesdays prior to the program each week. Walk-ins are welcome at the door if space is available (credit card only). Max. 100.

(Break) Dance Promenade: Street Style
Tuesdays, June 18, July 2 and 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Kids, teens and adults are welcome to participate in these FREE breakdancing classes. ICNH is a professional dance crew that focuses on spreading awareness and love to street dance and its many styles. Crew member Sockie Phommachanh will be lead you in a variety of forms like Krump, Breaking, Popping, Vogue, Hip Hop, and many more. Please register by the Tuesday prior to classes. Walk-ins welcome if space is available.

Petal Picasso: Crafting Masterpieces for Mom

Craft a heartfelt floral mason jar with or for your mom this Mother’s Day! These crafts can be used as flower vases, candle holders and more. One jar is included in your family registration, so multiple kids can work together creating the perfect gift. You are welcome to register for multiple jars. Registration deadline: May 8. Min. 8. Fort Wayne Ballet’s Firefly Tour

Start your summer with Fort Wayne Ballet’s professional company of dancers, great music, and the twinkling lights of evening stars and fireflies. This FREE outdoor tour brings a variety of amazing dance performances into the very heart of your community at Promenade Park. Historical Tie Dye

For most of human history, dyes were derived from nature. People cooked plants until they produced the desired pigment. Explore this fabric dying technique with your own tie dye t-shirt. With natural dyes, the color may not be as vibrant as you may be used to (like with modern clothing). All dyes have been pre-tested and there will be fabric samples to help you choose your color or colors. A plain white t-shirt is included. All ages welcome. Registration deadline: May 3. Min. 10. Paint with Your Pup

Let your dog unleash their inner artist! Pups will be creating their own canvas paw-jects and get some spreadable treats in the process. Afterwards, capture the creative moments with your pup! Be Your Own Artist: Candle Canvases

Riverfront Fort Wayne and Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana have partnered to bring you Paint with a Purpose: Family Art and Sensory Expo, an event that combines family fun and wellness. This FREE and inclusive event features activities and booths hosted by organizations who facilitate education and sensory-friendly fun! Mark your calendars now for this day filled with art, play, and access to resources in our community that offer sensory and adaptive services. While the expo is free to attend, additional activities may have costs.

Enchanted River Excursion: Princess Party
Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Embark on an enchanting boat ride down the St. Marys River, where magic is just around the riverbend! Join us for an unforgettable experience as we welcome a special princess aboard the Sweet Breeze for photos and autographs, while an on-shore craft awaits you. Boat rides will take place on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., with two groups alternating between the ride and the on-shore activity. Tickets are $22 for a 45 minute ride on the Sweet Breeze Canal boat.

Bioswale Tour

What is a bioswale? Come learn how the Promenade Bioswale benefits the park, including how it infiltrates and filters storm water before it goes into our rivers, and other benefits to our area. Eric Ummel, Superintendent of Landscape and Horticulture with Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, will be leading this tour for anyone who wants to learn more about how Promenade Park helps protect our rivers and wildlife.

Be Your Own Artist: Fused Glass Votive Candle Holder
Thursday, July 25, 6-7 p.m.
Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St.
Back by popular demand! Create your own 6” x 6” glass votive candle holder. You choose the glass colors to incorporate into your design while local artist Emily Simpson of Sol Eye Glass guides you through the glass piecing process. Your project will then be fired in a kiln and ready to pick up at the Parks and Recreation Department beginning August 12. Ages 18+. Registration deadline: July 17. Dragon Boat Races
Meet us at the riverfront for the 8th annual Fort Wayne Dragon Boat Races! Dragon Boat Racing originated in China and features 21-person teams paddling their craft in unison to a rhythmic drumbeat. The fun begins Friday evening with the Dragon Boat Opening Ceremony, featuring live music, local food, traditional dancing and floating fire pits. We are back in action Saturday morning when the competition begins! Additional activities include local food, kids’ activities and more. Team registration is underway.
