Intro to Irish Dance
The most notable characteristics of Irish dance are posture and footwork. It is traditionally performed with a straight back and stiff upper body, with arms down by the sides while the feet engage in light, energetic steps. In this introductory class, we will focus on coordination and getting acquainted with the rhythms of Irish music. You will learn foot placement, body alignment, and fundamental steps of soft shoe dances such as the Beginner Reel, Light Jig and Slip Jig. No prior dance experience is necessary. Registration deadline: January 2. Min. 8. Max. 20.
